I personally feel like most of this should be forced common knowledge as in taught to all that drive. Think most people are just to clueless to whats really going on under the hood.

I honestly think most people today would be hard pressed to open up the hood on their car. I bet many would sit there and try to pry it open without releasing the catch (seen it first hand on multiple occasions).

It really should be a part of the drivers test to check basic fluids and tire pressure levels.

I'd like to suggest you teach her about stroke kits too.

Forced is a harsh word.. But being able to identify parts of an engine or at least better understand what it takes to keep one running seems like a no brainer to enlightening anyone driving. Sure some regions do a version of this teaching. Would throw brakes and suspension in there as fundamentals as well.

Beat me to it. My auto tech teacher in high school adored that mnemonic device.

Making something that's so much work just to educate some people ... that's just class.
